All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Remove any loose or flaking paint from the surface and treat any mould or lichen with a fungicidal wash as directed. Sand smooth natural planed wood and wipe clean with white spirit to remove any natural oils or resins and allow to dry. Rub down bare timber and glossy surfaces with a fine waterproof abrasive paper. Avoid inhalation of dust & other substances when priming any surface.
Stir well before use and apply by brush along the grain of the wood, paying particular attention to the end grain. Apply a liberal coat of Johnstone's to the surface and paint in one smooth motion in one direction to achieve the best results. Further to this between coats lightly sand surface to get optimum results.
Depending on the nature & porosity of the surface, allow 4 hours drying between coats under normal conditions.
- Touch dry: Within 1 Hour
- Completely dry: Within 12 Hours
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean all equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse them thoroughly.
750ml of Johnstone's Woodcare Indoor Varnish will cover approximately 9m² depending on the nature & porosity of the surface.
Replace lid onto the tin firmly and store in cool dry conditions between + 5°C and +25°C. Storage outside these conditions will dramatically reduce shelf life and may affect the product itself.
