Technical Data & Application

Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Remove any loose or flaking paint. Rub down bare timber and glossy surfaces with a fine waterproof abrasive paper. Prime metal surfaces with an appropriate primer before applying this, and avoid inhalation of dust & other substances when priming any surface. Prime bare surfaces with an appropriate primer.

Application
Johnstone's paints are made to the highest standard and are ready to use straight from the tin. For the best results only apply using a brush which is fully loaded. Apply evenly around the stain allowing some over paint around the outside of the stain. Apply a single coat under normal conditions, however a second may be applied if a gloss finish is required. Apply liberally and smoothly in one direction to achieve the best results.

Drying time

Depending on the nature & porosity of the surface, allow 3 hours drying between coats under normal conditions.

  • Touch dry: Within 30 Minutes
  • Completely dry: Within 24 Hours

    Cleaning
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean all equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly to remove all paint from applicators.

    Coverage Guide
750ml of Johnstone's Specialty Paint Block Stains will cover approximately 8m² depending on the nature & porosity of the surface.

    Storage
Replace lid onto the tin firmly and store in cool dry conditions between + 5°C and +25°C. Storage outside these conditions will dramatically reduce shelf life and may affect the product itself.
