Technical Data & Application

Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Remove any loose or flaking paint from the surface and treat any mould or lichen with a fungicidal wash as directed. Sand smooth natural planed wood and wipe clean with white spirit to remove any natural oils or resins and allow to dry. Rub down bare timber and glossy surfaces with a fine waterproof abrasive paper. Prime metal surfaces with an appropriate primer before applying this, and avoid inhalation of dust & other substances when priming any surface.

Application
Stir well before use and apply by brush or roller to either the wooden or metal surface. Apply a liberal coat of Johnstone's Exterior Satin to the surface and paint in one smooth motion in one direction to achieve the best results.

Drying time

Depending on the nature & porosity of the surface, allow 2 to 4 hours drying between coats under normal conditions.

  • Touch dry: Within 1 to 2 Hours
  • Completely dry: Within 24 Hours

    Cleaning
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean all equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly to remove all paint from applicators.

    Coverage Guide
750ml of Johnstone's Satin will cover approximately 9m² depending on the nature & porosity of the surface.

    Storage
Replace lid onto the tin firmly and store in cool dry conditions between + 5°C and +25°C. Storage outside these conditions will dramatically reduce shelf life and may affect the product itself.
