Technical Data & Application

Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Remove any loose or flaking paint. Rub down bare timber and glossy surfaces with a fine waterproof abrasive paper. Prime metal surfaces with an appropriate primer before applying this, and avoid inhalation of dust & other substances when priming any surface.

Application
Stir well before use and apply by brush or roller to either the wooden or metal surface. When applying the coat of Johnstone's All Purpose Undercoat, remember to paint in one smooth motion, in one direction to achieve the best results.

Drying time

Depending on the nature & porosity of the surface, allow 16 hours drying between coats under normal conditions.

  • Touch dry: Within 4 - 6 Hours
  • Completely dry: Within 24 Hours

    Cleaning
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean all equipment immediately after use with White spirit or turpentine substitute and rinse thoroughly to remove all paint from applicators.

    Coverage Guide
1.25 litres of Johnstone's All Purpose Undercoat will cover approximately 21m² depending on the nature & porosity of the surface.

    Storage
Replace lid onto the tin firmly and store in cool dry conditions between + 5°C and +25°C. Storage outside these conditions will dramatically reduce shelf life and may affect the product itself.
