Control the flow of water with a simple quarter turn on/off – especially useful for manually isolating areas of an irrigation system.

The valve allows the flow rate to be reduced and customised to a plant’s consumption requirements in an irrigation zone.

WHAT IS THE ANTELCO BARBED FLOW CONTROL VALVE?

The Antelco Barbed Flow Control Valve helps you to fulfil a couple of different jobs in your irrigation system. You can use them to control the flow of nutrient/water that gets through to drippers. You can also use them to isolate all, or different parts of your system. Or use them at the end of lines to empty out used or unused nutrients.

To grow the best plants possible, you'll need to be able to control their water intake. At certain times of their development or depending on the time of year, plants need more water.

Flow control taps help to control the flow of the water that gets through to the plants and helps to control the pressure for pressure compensating drippers.  Plants can give you the best results when you calibrate their feed/water cycles. To start with, they need to be encouraged to root. During this stage, it can be easy to overwater them or not give them enough water when they need it. Setting up drip lines allows you to use timers and feed durations timers to calibrate exactly how much and when you feed. This control allows you to fine tune elements of the feeding cycle, such as calculating run off for the different stages of the plants life as it ramps up through the stages of growth. Calibrated feeding is a vast improvement over hand watering using a hose or a watering can.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE OF BARBED FLOW CONTROL VALVE TO BUY FOR MY IRRIGATION TUBING?

The Barbed Flow Control Irrigation Fittings are measured, based on the barrel's outside diameter dimensions. The outside dimension is also known as the "OD". If you have tubing with a 4 mm inner dimension, also known as the "ID", you'll want to match the tubing inner dimension with the outer dimension of the barbed tee fitting. Matching the ID and OD measurements means you'll get a solid, watertight seal.

Garden tip: For a totally secure fitting with high pressure systems, fix the hose over the barb with suitable jubilee clips.

CONTROL THE FLOW OF NUTRIENTS

Use Flow Control Valves (plastic barbed in line taps) to control the flow of water/nutrients through drip lines or to turn the flow off altogether. Using these robust and ergonomic taps puts you in charge of how much or how little water/nutrients your plants get.

WHAT ARE THE KEY BENEFITS OF USING ANTELCO BARBED FLOW CONTROL VALVES?

The following points highlight the key benefits of using Antelco Barbed Flow Control Valves:

  • Helps control the flow of water through drip lines

  • Helps with pressure and allows you to isolate watering lines for maintenance etc.

  • Comes in 4 mm, 7 mm, 10 mm, 13 mm, 19 mm and 25 mm variants

HOW DO I USE BARBED FLOW CONTROL VALVE FITTINGS?

To get the best seal with Barbed Flow Control irrigation fittings, pour a cup of very hot water and use it to dip the hose in to make it pliable. When warmed and slightly softened, the supple pipe or hose is easy to push over the barbed end. Once cooled and contracted, the pipe should remain securely fitted.
