Surface Preparation
Ensure that the surfaces that are to be stained are dry, clean and free from dust and grease. Any hardwoods or resinous soft woods should be wiped down well with white spirit to remove natural oils. Please note: not suitable for use on linseed oil putty, may be used on wooden glazing beads.
Application
Stir product well before use and intermittently during application.
Patch test prior to application to ensure compatibility.
Work the stain along the grain and avoid overlapping the brush strokes. Apply 3 coats to bare or new wood, or 2 coats to surfaces that have been stained previously, allowing 4 hours between each coat. Under normal conditions, the surface will be touch dry in 1 hour.
Limitations
- Colour swatch label is an indication of the colour of the stain only, always test the colour on an inconspicuous, small area before full scale application.
- Do not use on wood floors or decking.
- Protect from frost and do not use in temps below 10°C.
- To avoid risk of spillage, always transport this tin in a secure and upright position.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight.
- Ensure exterior wood/timber is treated with a non-repellent wood preservative prior to application of wood stain for complete protection. Particularly in areas subject to weathering.
- As the manufacturer cannot know all the uses its products may be put to, it is the user’s responsibility to determine suitability for use. If in doubt, contact Technical Services Department for advice or refer to technical data sheet.
Coverage Guide
Up to 9 square metres per litre. Coverage will vary depending on the absorbency of the wood.
Storage
Store in cool dry conditions between + 5 and +25°C. Storage outside these conditions will dramatically reduce shelf life. PROTECT FROM FROST.
